Steel Mesh Reinforced PE Pipe

Our Steel Wire Mesh Reinforced HDPE pipe (Roobuck pipe is composed of steel wire mech as the reinforcement and the HDPE as stuffing material around the mesh.
Pipe fitings are composed of steel ssheet as the reinforcing part and the HDPE as the stuffing material injected on both sides of the steel sheet.

Such a steel reinforcement provides significant improvement over normal PE pipes.

Different from normal Australian PE pipes, our pipes use Inside Diameter (ID) in mm, rather than Norminal Diameter which is Outside Diameter in mm.

NOTE:
-- The pipes corresponding to red cells are suggested to use electrofusion only.
-- The pipes corresponding to black cells without ID numbers are not available.
-- Working pressures are specified at 20 degree Ceisius. The pressure capacity must be reduced for operation at higher temperatures. Please let us know your operating temperature so we can help you to choose a correct pressure rating.

The Roobuck pipe can be connected by electrofusion or flange. However, flange connection is not recommended for pipes in large I.D. or high pressure. The pipes corresponding to red cells in the Specification Table are suggested to use electrofusion only. Both ends of a pipeline must be in flange connections to connect the pipeline to a water pump, another pipe or other eqipment.

Pipe welding machine
The electrofusion connection using our patented welding machine makes pipe installation much faster in significantly lower cost than normal hot plate installation.

Advantages over hot plate connection

1. Less weight of pipes
The weight is much less than normal PE pipes. Most pipes can be moved by hand.
2. Less weight of welding machine
Our electrofusion welding machine only weighs 20kg. ?It can be carried by one man, so it is much more convenient. A typical PE pipe welding machine will be many time heavier. A hydrolic station must be in place sometimes.
3. High rising installation
For normal PE pipes, the welding machine needs to be lifted up so installation is difficult. But for Roobuck pipe, the welding machine stays on the ground and you only need to connect electrical wires. This is important for chemical plant pipe or mining pipes.
4. Short welding time
The welding time is 10-20 minutes for DN250. Total connecting time is about 30 minutes, generally less than half requaired for a normal PE pipe.
For a large size PE pipe, you need a long time to preheat the pipe. For our pipe and welding, no preheat is needed at all.
5. Multi-joint operation
Fot normal pipes, you can only connect pipes at one point, or maybe two sometimes. You have to wait for conplete cooling of the welded joint before moving to next point. With Roobuck pipe, you only need to hold the welded connection using a simple holding bracket, because the coupler holds the two jointed pipes together. So once the joint is welded, you can immediately move to next joint.
6. Easy welding machine operation
A normal PE pipe welding machine is complicate to operate. Too many human factor will affect the result.
Our welding machine is an intellegent machine. It automatically detects the pipe model and will configure to the best parameters.The machine does not have any connect to pipes. You only connect wires to pipe. It is also easy to monitor the welding progress. The whole welding process is easy to operate.
7. Less man power
Because of above features, significant man power is saved and quick installation can be achieved comparing normal pipes.
8. Less fuel comsumption
Roobuck pipe installation consumes less power in welding. It even save fuel comsumption for generator and crane because there are no heavy jigs to move between butt welds.
9. High welding reliability
A normal PE pipe welding is significantly affected by environment, such as wind and rain. The effects of these factors are much less on our electrofusion welding.

You need to specify following parameters when selecting pipes:

  1. Pressure Rating in PN;
  2. Inside Diameter in mm;
  3. Length in m;
  4. Connection method in electrofusion or flange;
  5. Flange details at both ends of the pipeline.

Typical Applications

1. Transportation of Ore Pulp and Tailings
The Roobuck pipe replaces Steel Pipe (limited lifetime), and Steel Pipe with ceramic lining/rubber lining (high cost) mostly used in these applications. The product has big advantages compared with the 2 pipes mentioned above: Chiefly better performance and lower cost.
2. Transportation of Corrosive Materials in Mining, Metallurgy, and the Chemical Industry
The Roobuck pipe replaces Steel Pipe (limited lifetime), and Stainless Steel Pipe (high cost) commonly used in these applications, where a normal HDPE Pipe is unsuitable because of high pressure, high temperature, or the presence of corrosive materials such as acids, salt, alkalines, and their mixtures.
3. Transportation of Water under high Pressure.
The Roobuck pipe has a big advantage compared to normal HDPE Pipe where the internal diameter of the pipe is above 300mm, especially when the working pressure is above 1.6Mpa, because of its low cost, and relatively higher working pressure.
For long distance water transportation, as in mining, there are usually big variations in topography of the countryside, so a high working pressure and many pump stations are generally required. The use of this product will reduce the number of pump stations so lowering? the construction cost as well as pump station maintenance costs.
The price of this Steel-Cored HDPE is also lower than normal HDPE Pipe where the internal diameter is above 300mm and the working pressure is higher 1.6Mpa.
4. Transportation of Oil and Gas
The Roobuck pipe can be used as an Oil Collection Pipe, Oil and Water Separation Pipe, Gas Transportation Pipe, and Injection Pipe for Oil Wells, and takes the place of normal HDPE Pipe but with a higher margin of Safety.
Compared with Steel Pipe, the Product has the following advantages: Lower Installation Cost, eliminates need of Anti-corrosion Treatment, plus basically no Maintenance Costs and a Longer Lifetime, resulting in lower overall cost.
